Midnight Sun Bhangra in the Yukon at 12:30 AM

Midnight Sun Bhangra

Midnight Sun Dance – In the Yukon (Canada), during the summer solstice times, days are almost 24 hours long. From 2 AM to 3 AM, it may get a little bit duskier, but you can still see things around clearly and enjoy the moment like a captivating evening time. This time of the day is like a poet’s best imaginative moment to indulge in a superb creativity. Gurdeep Pandher and his dance partner Véronique Lachance decided to do some high-energy Bhangra dance at 12:30 AM, just after midnight, at the heart-gratifying Lake Laberge scenery of the calmly flowing Yukon river, to showcase to the world how elegant the Yukon looks under the midnight sun during the charming summer solstice days. Enjoy the dance and please share the video!

Warming Up Positive Steps to Mental Health Walk Participants in Whitehorse

The Mental Health Association of Yukon’s annual Positive Steps to Mental Health Walk took place Tuesday at Shipyards Park. Gurdeep Pandher, front, warmed up the group with Bhangra dance | Whitehorse Star photo by: VINCE FEDOROFF

It was wonderful to warm up the participants with bhangra moves in “Positive Steps to Mental Health” walk, organized by Mental Health Association of Yukon (MHAY) this morning! The walk kicked off Mental Illness Awareness Week events in Whitehorse, which are also being organized all over Canada.

It was also uplifting to see so many people in Whitehorse coming together and talking loudly about mental health.

Almost one half (49%) of those who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety have never gone to see a doctor about this problem. ~ Canadian Mental Health Association

Bhangra with Students from Alaska

These so many young students from different schools of Alaska were travelling through Whitehorse yesterday. Their tour organizers invited me do a bhangra session with them. I volunteered my time with them. They nailed down the most toughest bhangra moves in just half an hour! They told me that they have been watching my videos in Alaska. It was such an honour for me❤! I love that now the Yukon is also getting known in the world as the bhangra capital 😊!

When Cold Dawson City Gets Warmed Up with Bhangra Moves

Gurdeep Pandher | Dawson City | Bhangra | Oora Aara – The Song of Punjabi Alphabet

It was the month of January in the town of Dawson City of the Yukon, Canada. It was cold. It was actually really very-cold. The fire was out as well. Then the people of Dawson decided to dance Punjabi folk-dance Bhangra to warm themselves up. And it worked.

Gurdeep Pandher trained local people to dance bhangra and then choreographed it in the Dawson streets to fire up the energy of the bodies.

People enjoyed dancing to bhangra and it also created pure happiness along with the rich-warmth of dance energy.

The Councillor with the City of Dawson government, Billy Kendrick and his team, brought cameras to film it.

And so true, in Dawson City, people found gold and we have found “golden hearts” there.

Dawson City is located in the Yukon Territory of Canada. It the place where Gold Rush happened between years 1896 and 1899. The area is also known as the Klondike region of the Yukon. Dawson City is also known for the marvelous writings of the Yukon poet Robert W. Service.

Bhangra is the folk-dance of Punjab.
