1. Understanding of our Coins

There are 6 types of Canadian Coins:-

  1. Penny (one cent) – 1¢
  2. Nickel (five cents) – 5¢
  3. Dime (10 cents) – 10¢
  4. Quarter (25 cents) – 25¢
  5. Loonie (one dollar) – $1
  6. Toonie (two dollars) – $2

Nowadays, we can say that there are 5 types of Canadian Coins as Penny (one cent) is no longer in production.

What makes a Toonie (Two dollars)?

  • 200 Pennies (or cents)
  • 40 Nickels
  • 20 Dimes
  • 8 Quarters

What makes a Loonie (One dollar)?

  • 100 Pennies (or cents)
  • 20 Nickels
  • 10 Dimes
  • 4 Quarters

What makes a Quarter (25 cents)?

  • 25 Pennies (or cents)
  • 5 Nickels
  • 2 Dimes and 1 Nickel

What makes a Dime (10 cents)?

  • 10 Pennies (or cents)
  • 2 Nickels

What makes a Nickel (5 cents)?

  • 5 Pennies (or cents)

What makes a Penny (one cent)?

  • Nothing makes poor Penny. But penny makes everyone. So, penny takes care of everyone.

2. Now, Math Questions:-

Loonie or One Dollar based Subtractions

  1. How many cents we need to remove (or subtract) from one dollar to make one quarter?
  2. How many cents we should remove from one dollar to make one dime?
  3. How many cents we should remove from one dollar to make one nickel?
  4. How many cents we should remove from one dollar to make one penny?

Toonie or Two Dollars based Subtractions 

  1. How many cents we need to remove (or subtract) from Toonie or Two Dollars to make one quarter?
  2. How many cents we should remove from Toonie or Two Dollars to make one dime?
  3. How many cents we should remove from Toonie or Two Dollars to make one nickel?
  4. How many cents we should remove from Toonie or Two Dollars to make one penny?
