It was wonderful to warm up the participants with bhangra moves in “Positive Steps to Mental Health” walk, organized by Mental Health Association of Yukon (MHAY) this morning! The walk kicked off Mental Illness Awareness Week events in Whitehorse, which are also being organized all over Canada.
It was also uplifting to see so many people in Whitehorse coming together and talking loudly about mental health.
Almost one half (49%) of those who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety have never gone to see a doctor about this problem. ~ Canadian Mental Health Association

Warming Up Positive Steps to Mental Health Walk Participants in Whitehorse
These so many young students from different schools of Alaska were travelling through Whitehorse yesterday. Their tour organizers invited me do a bhangra session with them. I volunteered my time with them. They nailed down the most toughest bhangra moves in just half an hour! They told me that they have been watching my videos in Alaska. It was such an honour for me❤! I love that now the Yukon is also getting known in the world as the bhangra capital 😊!
Meet Bhangra graduates from the Yukon University! It was fun to teach my Yukon University dance students during this winter and spring semesters. I felt amazed and wonderful by their dedication to learn.
Now they are officially Bhangra graduates 🎓!
They also deserve a big applause for their achievement! 👏
Folks, we worked all night long to make samosas! We started at 6:30 PM and ended at 7 AM😳😳! We worked so much. So please come and join tonight to enjoy the samosas made with so much love ! And I’m sooo much thankful to Veronique for so much help. That was an incredible amount of help. She deserves so much 👏! I’m also thankful to Monique Chatterton for working with us until midnight. I’m also thankful to Mike Nemeth who will be working with us today to give samosas a final shape. I’m thankful to Monique’s Mom Suzanne for help too. Thank you, Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY), for offering us your kitchen! Our French community is so lovely and generous! ❤
Our team work for good deeds via Whitehorse Minor Hockey (PNW Group) and bringing/celebrating diversity together via bhangra in Yukon has been recognized in the Yukon Legislative Assembly today! Our collaboration Hockey-Bhangra video has been watched 150,000 times via YouTube and Facebook combined.
Thank you, MLA Kate White and MLA Paolo Gallina, for encouraging words in the assembly!
On behalf of Canadian Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen, Yukon’s Member of Parliament Hon. Larry Bagnell organized a roundtable in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to seek views of Yukon’s cultural organizations this week on the citizenship study guide. It was wonderful to share thoughts on the behalf of Sikh and Punjabi community of the Yukon.

The MP informed the participating community representatives that the Government of Canada was working on updating the citizenship study guide to ensure it is more inclusive and reflective of Canadian diversity and our indigenous history.
Although I felt honoured that our CBC recently wrote that “Gurdeep Pandher, who could be considered Yukon’s most famous person on social media”. But you know what, being famous is Ok, having half-million fans is Ok too, more important is being “loved”, “respected” and “being truly accepted”. Love, respect, and acceptance I felt after my videos went viral have been more important to me and I am thankful to Yukoners and Canadians from far-away places for sending tremendous love and respect. Otherwise, just being famous would have been meaningless! Many folks such as “Trumps” and “Fords” are very famous on social media, but they couldn’t earn respect and “a place” in people’s hearts! I just feel happy that people invite me to their homes/places and talk to me like fellow humans and let me feel a part of their families and spaces. Then I feel that I’ve many homes, away from my home❤! I do acknowledge that social media played a significant role in the development of my work and brand, but that would have been no use If I would not have received your true love ❤ !
